John Murdoch was born and enlisted at Greenock, he served in France from 2 November 1915. He was killed in action on 18 August 1916 serving with the 8th/10th and is buried in the Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle; sold together with a modern photograph of his grave and modern issue cap badge.
