A well-documented campaign group of three awarded to Bombardier E. C. Monks, Royal Artillery

Edward Colston Monks was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire in 1888 and joined the Royal Artillery in December 1905. Transferring to the Reserve in December 1911, he re-joined upon the outbreak of the Great War and served in France from 25 July 1915-27 January 1916; and then from 1 September 1917-15 January 1918. In this second period overseas he suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg that fractured his tibia and fibula on 8 October 1917. He was discharged with a Silver War Badge.

Original boxes of issue for all three Campaign medals, complete with outer labels and each with original 'O.H.M.S.' envelope addressed to the recipient; also accompanying completed forwarding slips for each Medal and original silk ribands.

Original and complete Character and Discharge certificates.
(iii).
Brass Princess Mary Christmas tin, with its original card and photograph.
(iv).
Two Royal Artillery cap badges and one 'sweetheart' brooch.
(v).
24 original black-and-white photographs and postcards mostly relating to the recipient and his family, including several military images and scenes.

Two pocket diaries and a pocket notebook containing a few annotations and notes.

A comprehensive file of modern copied research.
