Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Syria (William Creek); Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol, unnamed as issued; St Jean D'Acre 1840, copper, fitted with silver; Turkish Crimea, British issue, very fine or better (5)

William Creek was born at Cambridge, and worked as a groom before enlisting on 29 September 1834. His first service was aboard H.M.S. Asia from 26 March 1836-10 April 1941, during which he saw action in the Syrian Campaign against the Egyptian ruler Mehemet Ali. Throughout his career Creek served with a number of vessels including Scout, Crocodile and Ganges. By the outbreak of the Crimean war he was with H.M.S. Queen and saw service in the Bombardment of Sebastopol with her. This was to be Creek's last posting and he was discharged on 15 April 1856; sold together with copied medal rolls and service papers.
