General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Iraq (267962. A.C.2. J. B. Richards. R.A.F.), small edge bruise at 3 o'clock, otherwise toned very fine

Joseph Baden Richards was born on 22 February 1901 at Birmingham. A 'Grinder' prior to enlistment, he signed up at Blandford on 12 July 1918 and was sent to F Section at Halton on 4 August 1918 and thence on to 248 Squadron. Further service saw him at Seaton Carew and Wendover by 12 February 1919. He is noted as being a Rigger and having the rank of Aircraftsman 2nd Class; his service records make no further mention of his duties in Iraq.
