British War Medal 1914-20 (3) (241936 Pte. H. A. Dallas. Linc. R.), (16246 Pte. W. S. Goodwin. Norf. R.), (Ch 15290 Pte. F. G. H. Gooch. R.M.L.I.), some contact marks and wear but overall very fine
Henry Albert Dallas enlisted with the Lincolnshire Regiment at Shoreditch, later transferring to the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). He was killed in action with the 21st Battalion on 18 September 1918 and is buried at Gouzeaucourt New British Cemetery.
Walter Simon Goodwin was born at Blythborough, Suffolk and enlisted at Norwich with the 9th Battalion Norfolk Regiment. Entering the war in France on 30 August 1915 (1914-15 Star and Victory Medal), he later transferred to the 8th Battalion. Goodwin was killed in action on 31 October 1916, he is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial.
Frank George Howard Gooch was born at Suffolk on 30 December 1889 and enlisted with the Royal Marine Light Infantry on 1 November 1905 at Birmingham. Stationed with Chatham Division he saw service with a number of vessels before the Great War including London, Boudica and Diamond. Gooch was posted to the battleship Formidable on 20 May 1912, remaining with her through the first year of the Great War. She was undertaking gunnery exercises on the night of 31 December-1 January with the 5th Battle Squadron only to be torpedoed by U-24. In the rough seas losses amongst the crew were extremely high including Gooch who is commemorated upon Chatham Naval Memorial.
