The British War Medal awarded to Private J. W. B. Stevenson, 14th (County of London) Battalion, London Regiment (London Scottish), who was killed by a sniper on the Western Front in June 1916
British War Medal 1914-20 (4154 Pte. J.W.B. Stevenson. 14-Lond. R.), good very fine
James William Balfour Stevenson, of Stronsay in the Orkney Islands, served in France with the London Scottish from 4 July 1915 and was killed in action on 9 June 1916, being shot by a sniper whilst engaged in digging a sap. Son of William and Eliza Stevenson, he was 24 years of age and is buried at Hebuterne Military Cemetery in France.
Sold with a small amount of copied research including a note stating the recipient was additionally wounded at the 1st Battle of Loos.
