1914-15 Star (3) (1571 Cpl W.G. Hunt. R. War. R.), (13645 Pte C. R. Chester. Linc: R.), (15302 Pte. B. Prestwood. Linc:R.), very fine

William George Hunt was born at Kettering, Northamptonshire and enlisted at Coventry, Warwickshire. Mobilised with the 1st/7th Battalion he entered the war in France on 22 March 1915. Hunt was killed in action two weeks into the Battle of the Somme on 14 July 1916 as a Sergeant and is commemorated upon the Thiepval Memorial.

Charlie Robert Chester was born at Navenby, Lincolnshire and enlisted at Wellingore, entering the war on 22 September 1915 at Salonica. He served with the 8th Battalion and was later transferred to France where he was killed in action on 4 October 1917. Chester is commemorated upon the Tyne Cot Memorial.

Bertie Prestwood was born at Holbeach, the son of William and Elizabeth Prestwood of 55 Granville Street, Boston. Entering the war on 22 September 1915 with the Lincolnshire Regiment he was transferred to the 1st Battalion prior to the Battle of the Somme. Prestwood died of wounds during the first week of the Offensive on 3 July 1916 and was buried at Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'abbe.
