(x) Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal (21344 Gnr: W. H. Parke, 4th M.B., R.G.A.), good very fine

William Harry Parke was born at Thorpe Hamlet, Norfolk in 1879 and enlisted with the Royal Artillery at Yarmouth on 30 July 1897. Posted to the 4th Mountain Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery he served attached to the Pom Pom section of the Royal Horse Artillery as a gunner. He died of disease at Pretoria on 21 November 1900 and is commemorated upon the Royal Artillery Memorial in St. James's Park, London.
