W. C. Butler is listed as being present for the attack upon the Sultan of Witu's strongholds of Pumwani and Jongeni. The medal roll notes his application for a duplicate medal on 20 July 1906, having presumably lost the original; sold together with an extract from African General Service Medals and a copied medal roll.
