A British Army pattern pith helmet or sola topee, worn by a member of the Hampshire Regiment who recorded his travels on the inside lining of his headdress

British Army pattern pith helmet, khaki cloth with original cotton puggaree/pagri folded round exterior, the interior with original slightly dry and distressed brown leather sweatband, relic leather chinstrap, the individual panels of the lining each fully covered in ink inscriptions with dates and locations of the recipients' travels and deployments, from 'Bristol' and 'Canterbury' to 'Baghdad', 'Hilla Kifl' and 'Turkey, Nov. 1st 1918', pagri slightly torn in places, back peak cracked to the interior, with a wooden stand for display, 230mm x 110mm, good fine (2)

From further inscriptions within, this helmet appears to be attributed to a 'Jacobs, B. 40870' with units mentioned including the 'Hants Carb Yeo' and the '1st/6th Hants'.
