Bar to M.C. London Gazette 26 July 1918:

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Whether in command of his battery or the brigade or acting as infantry liason officer he displayed coolness and resource of a very high order. Once when his battery came under heavy shell fire and direct hits on the teams caused some confusion, his fine example and complete command of the situation at once restored order. His courage and fine leadership were conspicuous throughout.'

Richard Fielding Morrison was born in April 1890 to Lieutenant-Colonel R.H. Morrison (late 18th Hussars) and Mrs. L.C.C. Morrison, of County Dublin and Surrey. Commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Artillery in July 1910, he landed in France in August 1914 and served variously with the Royal Field and Royal Horse Artillery. Twice 'mentioned' in addition to two well-deserved M.C.'s, Morrison died (aged 27) on 25 April 1918 and is buried at Haringhe (Bandaghem) Military Cemetery in Belgium.
