Walter Charles Watson was born at Portsmouth, Hampshire on 1 December 1905 and enlisted with the Royal Navy on 2 August 1921, being sent to the training ship Impregnable. His first posting afloat was with the battleship Colossus from 3 October of that year. Reaching his majority with H.M.S. Centurion, on 1 December 1923 Watson was appointed Ordinary Seaman.
Seeing further service with various ships including Argus, Cornflower and Warspite he joined the Royal Fleet Reserve on 30 November 1935. Mobilised for service again during the Munich Crisis he was posted to H.M.S. Wisheart on 21 August 1939 and served with her as an Able Seaman while she was on convoy duty in the Mediterranean. Leaving this post on 1 April 1940 he was to serve at shore bases for the rest of the war, notably Victory III for the Landing Craft and Combined Ops training camp H.M.S. Northney. Watson survived the war and died in Plymouth in November 1995; sold together with copied service papers and medal rolls.
