Charlie Seaman was born at Stowmarket, Suffolk on 12 August 1896 and joined the Royal Navy on 25 May 1912. At the start of the Great War he served aboard Africa until 19 June 1915, Indomitablefrom 23 June 1915-30 July 1916, Blenheim from 6 September-10 November 1917, Egmont from 11 November-31 December 1917 and Montrose from 14 September 1918-16 February 1919.
