Richard Thomas Boyce was born at Charles, Plymouth on 3 November 1858. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 14 April 1875 and served on Tamar from 9 June 1880-15 June 1883. He served at Cromarty Lifeboat Station as Chief Boatman in Charge between 1 January 1903-14 November 1905, when he died from heart disease.
