John Sharman was born on 8 August 1864 and he was a labourer upon his joining the Royal Marines at Cambridge on 8 August 1883. He was discharged on 10 August 1904 and enrolled into the Royal Fleet Reserve on 11 August 1904. This Medal is his sole entitlement.
