Pair: R. J. Harrison, Women's Royal Naval Service,

Defence Medal; War Medal 1939-45 very fine (Lot)

R. J. Harrison was born on 26 June 1922 and joined the Women's Royal Naval Service in 1943. She was posted to Mill Hill, then to Wimbledon to undertake a course in taking German messages for subsequent translation, from there she went to St. David's in Wales, logging German live signals, followed in June 1943 with a posting to Withernsea (HMS Beaver) on Humberside. She was then transferred to Bletchley Park in January 1944 to start a Japanese Analysis course with a view of going to the Far East; sold together with a contemporary archive including:

(i) identification disk named to the recipient.

(ii) Naval Sewing Kit (empty) but named to the recipient.

(iii) WRENs hat by James Forsyth (St.Albans), dated 1943, with cap tally for H.M.S. Pembroke and a further one marked H.M.S..

(iv) Admiralty slip for WW2 medals.

(v) Postcard from the early 1970's with typed resume of her service, typed by her daughter.

(vi) Article from the Telegraph and reference to R. J. Harrison as having served at Bletchley Park.
