Vivian Hutchence Holroyd was born on 18 June 1897 a native of Kensington, London, who was commissioned from the Artist Rifles O.T.C. on 20 May 1916 as 2nd Lieutenant in the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment. He was advanced to Captain, whilst commanding a Company in December 1917, and 'mentioned' whilst serving with the 6th Battalion (London Gazette 9 July 1919, refers). He later became a school teacher and taught for a while at Magdalen College School. He died in Guildford on 11 November 1964; for his miniature dress Medals, please see Lot 1222.
