Charles Venus Yates was born in 1897, the son of James John and Mary Ann Yates, of Tebay, Westmorland. and served with the 1st Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 9 April 1917 and is buried in the Cojuel British Cemetery; sold together with outer card wrapper and envelope for the Plaque, named boxes and forwarding slip for the Medals, besides other original items.
