[A.R.R.C.] London Gazette 21 June 1918.
Phyllis Guilbride was born at Northampton on 10 August 1890 and moved to Canada prior to the war where she worked as a Nurse. With the outbreak of the Great War and the gradual build-up of the Canadian Military she enlisted with the Canadian Army Medical Corps on 30 July 1915. Posted to No. 5 Canadian General Hospital she served here until 27 October 1916 when she joined the hospital ship Dover Castle.
Transferred to the Military Hospital, Orpington in February 1917, she wasn't to remain there long before a spell aboard the Hospital Ship Letitia. She was posted finally to No. 11 Canadian General Hospital, Moore Barracks Hospital. It was while she was here that Guilbride was honoured with the award of the Royal Red Cross, Class II for her tireless services throughout the war. She was struck off the strength on 7 March 1919; sold together with a 3 Years Service badge, numbered to the reverse '11293', a silver sweetheart broach and silver bangle as well as a Dover Special Military Area pass and two telegraphs from the palace relating to the investiture of the R.R.C. - all addressed to the recipient - as well as a set of Nurse's dress gloves, which are noted as the correct dress for the investiture in the accompanying paperwork.
