British War and Victory Medals (87660 Pte. J. W. Allen. M.G.C.), good very fine (2)

John William Allen was born in 1893 and attested for the Machine Gun Corps on 9 December 1915 being sent to the reserves the next day. Mobilised on 4 January 1917 entered the war in France on 25 April and was posted to No. 14 Company on 30 April. Allen's pension documents list two wounds while he was in France, wound to his right knee and another from the effects of gas. After being demobilised on 24 October 1919 Allen returned to his home at 6 Railway Cottages, Liverpool.
