Pair: Private G. Wallace, 'C' Battalion, Tank Corps, late Machine Gun Corps (Heavy Branch) and Gordon Highlanders, who was killed in action on 10 July 1917

George Wallace both at Wealthieton, Keig, Aberdeen in 1895, the son of George and Margaret Wallace of 53 Skene Street, Aberdeen. Enlisting with the 1/6th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders at Keith, Aberdeen he entered the war on 10 November 1914 (Star), later transferring to the Machine Gun Corps (Heavy Branch) with the service number 23680. Posted to 'C' Battalion, he was serving with them when killed in action on 10 July 1917. Notably Wallace was given a service number for the Tank Corps (205775) despite being killed several weeks prior to the official formation of this unit. He is buried at Gwalia Cemetery and commemorated upon the Menin Gate Memorial; sold together with copied research including Commonwealth War Graves Certificate; Soldiers Died in the Great War entry and M.I.C..
