Reuben John Kinch was born on 20 November 1885 at Fareham and worked as a Fitter's Mate prior to joining the Royal Navy on 11 October 1904. Serving on Woolwich between 12 December 1913-30 September 1916 before removing to Vivid II for Acheron on 1 October 1916. Later going ashore at Victory I on 27 January 1917, he joined Vernon for Conflict on 15 March 1917 serving with her until 31 March 1918. Joining Victory II on 24 July 1918 he was posted to Glory on 6 October 1918-31 October 1919. Kinch received his L.S. & G.C. Medal in October 1919 and completed his service in the Royal Navy on the 10 October 1926 before joining the Royal Fleet Reserve the following day.
