John Scott was born at Stirling on Christmas Day 1878 and served with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders during the Boer War. With the outbreak of the Great War, he landed in France with 'B' Company, 2nd Battalion on 10 August and was taken a Prisoner of War at Le Cateau on 26 August 1914.
