Owen Lee was born at Middlesboro, Yorkshire in 1878 and enlisted with the Militia at Richmond on 19 July 1899. Stationed with the 4th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment initially he was attached to the 3rd Battalion upon being embodied for service with the Boer War on 26 February 1900. Lee was confirmed as being on of 24 men injured in a train accident near Burghersdrp on 31 January 1902, despite this he remained in service for several more months before being discharged on 15 May 1902; sold together with a typed biographical summery and casualty roll.
