(x) Canada General Service 1866-70, 1 clasp, Fenian Raid 1866 (750 Pte. T. Hunter. 2/7 R. Fus:), suspension re-affixed, contact marks, edge bruise, nearly very fine

Thomas Hunter was born at Gateshead and worked as a Smith prior to enlisting on 21 September 1853 with the Royal Fusiliers. After service in Gibraltar and Malta, Hunter was posted to North America and as such was present in Canada at the time of the 1866 Fenian Raid. He re-attested the year after the raid and continued to serve until 1 September 1873. Hunter was later to become a Chelsea Pensioner; sold together with a medal roll and discharge papers.
