Sergius Silus, AR Denarius, c.116-115BC, head of Roma right, wearing winged and crested helmet, ROMA and value mark behind, EX S C before, rev. horseman left on rearing horse, holding sword and severed head, Q below forelegs of horse, M SERGI below, SILVS in exergue, 6h, 3.79g, (Crawford, 286/1) darkly toned, slightly flattened, otherwise good fine to very fine; Roman Republic, Appius Claudius Pulcher, T. Manlius Mancinus and Q. Urbinius, AR Denarius, c.111-110BC, head of Roma right, wearing winged and crested helmet, rev. Victory riding triga right, AP CL T MAL Q VR in exergue, 9h, 3.85g, (Babelon Claudia 2 and Mallia, 1; Sydenham, 570; RBW, 1141; Crawford, 299/1a)cleaned and tool-marked but light toning apears on obverse, and nevertheless a very fine strike (3)
