'Carnatic': 1869 (25 Aug.) opened-out envelope Veerajenderpett "Via Southampton" with part Margate despatch duplex (the original adhesive has washed off), the reverse bears the printed label "Recovered from wreck of the 'Carnatic'", redirected on arrival with India ½a. blue tied by manuscript "Restamped" and barred diamond in blue and showing a fine array of transit datestamps. Some soiling as is to be expected. A good example of this wreck mail. Photo
