The Maharajah of Cooch Behar
1900-1902 HH Nripendra Narayan (1862-1911) and Miss Nellie Seymour, an English actress on the London stage. A personal correspondence of 88 autograph letters, many with original envelopes, written on engraved notepaper, with the Maharajah's personal cypher from within the UK and from Cooch, including telegrams sent to Miss Seymour.
The Maharajah was infatuated by Nellie Seymour and wishes her to join him in India. The affair ended in 1902 when a letter from her to him was intercepted and read by the Maharani.
The Maharajah signs himself "Peach" and Seymour is addressed as "Birdie".
Amongst the archive are four autograph letters from the Maharajah of Karputhala to Nellie Seymour arranging to meet her at his suite at the Carlton Hotel, Pall Mall.
References are made to the Coronation of King Edward VII; certain written from the Shooting Camp, Cooch Behar, with stamped envelopes.
