1831, 1832 Two letters from Cairo and Alexandria, one incomplete 7pp in total, written by an unknown medical doctor travelling in Egypt, to his father. He comments on the monuments, explains that Pasha Mehmet Ali had carried off the gateway of Denderah and prohibited excavations as his son Ibrahim, his successor, was personally excavating for his own gain. He refers to meeting John Gardner Wilkinson, often referred to as "The Father of British Egyptology". Further comments on a cholera outbreak, and his return to England having recovered from typhus (2)
