1895 Linen backed passport folded into a leather case issued in the name of Charles Carr Ashley, travelling to the Continent with his Servant, signed by Ashley to the lower left and the facsimile signature of the Marquess of Salisbury as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
Ashley was a major benefactor of the RNLI and left a bequest for the maintenance of five Ashley lifeboats and assistance to the families of lost crews (80x110 folded)
