c1880 Two autograph letters signed by W.Verney Cameron (1844-1894), the English traveller in Central Africa and the first European to cross Equatorial Africa from coast to coast in 1875. In the longer letter he refers to writing to Dr (John) Kirk, Livingstone's companion and British administrator in Zanzibar, and suggests "people are working from the E.Coast and your brother in law very likely will make up with one of them". This is addressed to "Mr Henriques" . The second refers to "reserved seats" possibly for one of his lectures. Cameron had reached Ujiji on Lake Tanganyika in February 1874, found Livingstone's papers and returned them to England. (2)
