The Robin Gain Collection of Samuel Pepys and Pepys Related Documents
1654 (29 March) Parliamentary Council of State document ordering Thomas Fauconberg ("Receiver General of the Public Revenue") to pay Thomas Smithsby the sum of "Threescore and ten pounds, thirteene shillings and two pence" for "emptions [purchases] and disbursements about the House & Gardens at Hampton Court"; signed by Henry Lawrence, Edward Montagu, Philip Lisle, Anthony Ashley Copper, Earl of Shaftesbury, Philip Jones, Francis Rous and John Rushworth with signed receipt on reverse. Document with wafer seal intact, a few areas of paper loss not affecting the text and lightly mounted on card. A wonderful document with a range of signatures.
