1681-1988 extensive Oxford postal history collection arranged in eight albums with well annotated descriptions, housed in two boxes comprising outgoing and incoming mails, starting with a 1681 cover from London to Oxford showing "Bishop" mark on the reverse, including a selection of pre-stamp covers with "oxford" handstamps in various shapes and lenghts and with additional marks. 1840 (6 June) 1d. black on cover to London redirected to Brixton; 1840 (12 Aug.) 1d. black on large part of letter to Bridgend; 1840 (24 Dec.) 1d. Mulready envelope to Faringdon, 1858 4d. on envelope to France cancelled by "603" duplex, 1858 cover to Bath bearing 1d. with "O.U.S." protective overprint in red, 1868 6d on envelope to Jamaica, 1873 envelope to Ceylon bearing 1/- cancelled by "613" numeral error duplex, 1878 envelope to South Africa bearing 6d (2), 1882 envelope to New Zealand bearing 6d., 1882 1d. postal stationery card to Algeria, 1894-1908 selection of Parcel Post labels, 1894 incoming mail from USA to Oxford redirected to Italy, 1900 incoming mail from Austrian Post in Constantinople undelivered and with "not known" handstamp, mixed condition expected for this kind of lot.
