Lot: 293
Mauritius Commercial Bank, Front Proof 100 Silver Rupees, 1st September 1835, this banknote stands out due to its distinctive deviations from the notes that were synchronously available, presenting a wholly unique appearance. It is a front proof note from the Mauritius Commercial Bank, a 100 silver rupee note, featuring a currently unlisted design. Despite this, it shares a common waterfront scene with Picks S122, S126, and S127. What sets this particular specimen apart is its angular composition and typography, resembling the later Oriental Bank Corporation notes, whereas other designs by the Commercial Bank feature curved typesetting. Altogether an interesting and unique banknote
