Auction: 23004 - Ancient and British Coins - Featuring the 'White Rose' Collection
Lot: 544

Anne (1702-1714), Post-Union, Half-Guinea, 1713 over 1, diademed and draped bust left, stop after DEI, rev. crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, five strings to harp, edge obliquely milled, 4.17g [64.4grns], 6h (Ellerby - [cf. 81]; Baldwin 108, 8 November 2022, lot 110 same dies; MCE 234; EGC 493 [R]; Spink 3575), some friction and rub in otherwise lustrous and subtly toned fields, a markedly wholesome example on account of peripheral milling sharpness and general striking uniformity, a most pleasingly good very fine, the overdate beautifully clear, rarer than accounted for in the standard references and seldom encountered at public auction

Only two other examples can be traced on CoinArchives with any certainty, on both occasions the two different specimens have been offered by the same company twice. In reality this is only the third example traced by this cataloguer, and is entirely fresh to market.
