AVTEM : TRANSIENS : PER : MEDIV : ILLORVM: IBAT, saltire stops, ornate cross, lion and crown in each angle, all within tressure, trefoils in spandrels, R at centre, 7.80g [120.4grns], 10h, m.m. cross pattee (Stewartby IVa2; Schneider I, 158/-; Webb-Ware 4a; North 1304; Spink 1658), struck soft on portrait and to neighbouring rigging, with toning spots in decking, otherwise a most attractive example with much residual flaring, a really good very fine and much as issued, a wholesome, honest rarity
