Cnut (1016-1035/36), 'Cross in Quatrefoil' Type, Penny, 1016-1023, Lincoln, Ælfnoth, + CNVT REX ANGLORVM, crowned and draped bust left, in quatrefoil, rev. + ÆL•FNOÐ MO LINC, voided long cross in pellet-tipped quatrefoil, pellet at each apex, 1.01g [15.6grns], 8h (SCBI 21 [Yorkshire], 1050; North 781; BMC VIII; Spink 1157), cracked through flan and some peck marks to reverse, otherwise 'field' toned and lightly waterworn, nevertheless a pleasing portrait, struck details bolder than very fine
