Wessex, Alfred (871-899), Third Coinage, 'Two Line (Guthrum)' Type, Penny, struck 880-899, Canterbury, Beornweald, + AFIFPF + PE + D-ORO, lozenge Os, [ÆLFRED REX DORO], small cross pattée, rev. BHRIN | AD MO lozenge Os, in two lines, divided by pellet, 1.40g [21.6grns], 10h (BMC nos. 4 and 50; North 638; BMC XVII; Spink 1069), small metal flaw to the reverse edge at 3 o'clock, yet with pleasingly darkly toned fields, subtle crimping, otherwise good very fine, with comparables to be seen in the famous Cuerdale and Morley St. Peter hoards
