She embarked for Egypt on 8 October 1884 and arrived in theatre on 21 October 1884. She proceeded from Ramleh to Cairo in September 1885 and thence to Aswan in June 1886. Barker went back to England on sick leave in July 1886 and resigned her appointment in September 1886.
