George Penhorwood Brock was born at Charles, Plymouth on 28 December 1858. Enlisting with the rank of Boy Class II with the training ship H.M.S. Impregnable on October 1874. Reaching his majority with the Sloop Spartan Brock was promoted Able Seaman aboard this vessel before transferring to the Royal Adelaide. He saw service with a number of vessels over the next few years including Valiant, Agincourt and Bellisle.
Brock was transferred to the Coast Guard in December 1886 with his first posting being Kilmichael. He served on being awarded his L.S. & G.C. while at Arklow and finally being pensioned ashore in December 1896. Not content to rest out of serve he joined the Royal Fleet Reserve in July 1903 and served with them until 28 December 1907. Brock lived at St. Lukes, Plymouth after leaving the Navy. He dide at East Stonehouse, Devon in later 1929; sold together with a typed summary of service.
