A well-documented campaign group of four awarded to Corporal E. B. Walton, Royal Army Medical Corps, who saw service with the 6th Infantry Division in Africa and later with 215th Field Ambulance in Burma

1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Burma Star; War Medal 1939-45, with a named and addressed O.H.M.S. box of issue, good very fine (4)

Edwin Bertie Walton was born at Cardiff, Glamorgan on 14 March 1917 and worked with the Royal Carriage Company prior to enlisting at Boyce on 15 February 1940. He was clearly something of a poet writing his wife two separate poems- included with the lot- one from Cairo on Remembrance Day 1940 where he was service with the 6th Division. Part of the action in Syria and Lebanon Walton later saw service in Africa with the 70th Division under Major-General Scobie Walton including the fighting at Tobruk.

Returning to the East he was stationed with 215th Field Ambulance at Ceylon on 25 December 1942, being promoted Corporal with that unit on 20 June 1943. It is possible that he was service with the Chindits, having a Chindit patch amongst his effects, notably other members of the 215th Field Ambulance did which suggests the unit was considered suitable to provide candidates. Regardless Walton's soldier pay book does confirm that he was awarded the Burma Star on 25 January 1946.
