Joseph Blow was born at St. Albans in 1897. Enlisting with the Hertfordshire Regiment on 19 April 1915 he served with the 3rd Battalion in Britain until 13 November 1915 when he joined the Royal Flying Corps. Embarking on 9 March 1916 he served with them as a cook until he was reclassified Aircraftman class I on 1 January 1919. Promoted Corporal on 1 March 1919 Blow was remustered as Cook & Batman on 1 August 1919. He was discharged to the reserve on 9 April 1921; sold together with handwritten research.
