Alfred Towers was born at Lancaster in 1896 and was a block printer by trade. Having joined the Territorial Force, he served in France from 14 February 1915 and shared in the Second Battle of Ypres, Frezenburg Ridge and Loos before the year is out. Further present during the Somme Battles in 1916, Towers was discharged sick - with a Silver War Badge - on 2 July 1917; sold together with copied research.
