Arthur James Butler was born at Barnes and enlisted in London. He was killed in action on 5 May 1915 serving with the 1st Battalion, aged 28. He is buried in the First D.C.L.I. Cemetery, The Bluff. He was the son of William and Florence Butler of 11 Rising Sun Cottages, Cranford Lane, Heston, Middlesex.
