Samuel Wilkinson was born on 28 December 1893 and served with the 3rd Company, 5th Divisional Train, Army Service Corps and entered the war in France on 16 August 1914, thereby earning a clasp for his 1914 Star. After the Great War, he re-joined the Royal Engineers in March 1933 and was discharged (K.R. 390 Para XVIII (a)) in 1940, after having served with the British Expeditionary Service and was considered non-effective on 30 November 1942.
