William John Miles was born in 1893 and from the age of five suffered fits, which he was first treated for at the Homeopathic Hospital, Russell Square. Nonetheless, he was a mechanic and served in France from 5 September 1914-7 January 1915 with the 52nd Company (Motor Transport). He was discharged 'no longer fit' on the 12 July 1915 - due to again suffering from fits - and is entitled to a Silver War Badge, his MIC notes that he lost it, but later acknowleges receipt dated 10 June 1918.
