Harry Hoyle was born in 1896. He served with 'D' Company, 2nd Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment and is noted as being wounded in action on 25 October 1916. Medical records from No. 34 Casualty Clearing Station state that he was caught by shellfire with shrapnel in the right arm, right foot and left leg. He recovered and continued to serve until the end of the war.
George Prince Holdsworth was born at Leeds, Yorkshire in 1895 and worked as a Lead Glazier prior to enlisting on 21 January 1916. Posted to the 17th Battalion in France on 9 July 1916 he entered the war here and was soon in the thick of the action. Re-posted to the 1/5th Battalion Holdsworth was reported missing during the fighting at Lavantie on 9 July 1917. It was later discovered that he had suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was later taken prisoner of war. Taken to Dulmen camp he remained here for the rest of the war.
