(x) The Victory Medal awarded to 2nd Lieutenant A. V. Lucas, Royal Warwickshire Regiment who won a 'Trench Raid' M.C. in 1918
Victory Medal 1914-19 (2. Lieut. A. V. Lucas.), good very fine
[M.C.] London Gazette 24 September 1918:
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while leading a raid. He made five reconnaissances [sic] of the ground and possessed the complete confidence of his men. On reaching the machine-gun post he personally shot the sentry and obtained the first identification. He then made a fine attempt to carry away the machine gun, and only withdrew after seeing that it was permanently put out of action.'
Albert Victor Lucas served with the 1/6th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment as a Private (No. 2793), serving in France from 5 May 1915.
Later commissioned 2nd Lieutenant with the 8th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment on 27 September 1917. Surviving the war Lucas lived at 252 Frederick Road, Arton, Birmingham; sold together with copied research.
