India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Pegu (Henry Miles. 80th Regt), contact marks, very fine

Henry Miles attested in India for the 80th Regiment as a drummer/fifer while only 14 years and 10 months old. Noted as stationed in Burma in 1852 and later Moulmein & Rangoon. He was transferred to the 53rd Regiment in 1853 and was still serving with this unit at Fort William, Calcutta on the outbreak of the Indian Mutiny (Medal). Wounded in the left leg at Khuewa on 1 November 1857 while the regiment was escorting a supply train to Khuewa. He was discharged as a result of his wounds; sold together with copied medal rolls and typed research.
