1839 (20 Dec.) entire letter from Edinburgh to Perth, sent unpaid, charged 8d. and struck with very fine and scarce "Above/½oz" handstamp of Edinburgh, minor faults not affecting the mark. Much earlier than the sole 1840 (8 Jan.) date recorded for this very rare Edinburgh mark of the 4d. post period.
